All around the world there have been stories told of haunted roads with things like hitchhikers, ghosts and apparitions in white. Urban legends and haunted tales can lure in curious individuals and sometimes the tales of these reported haunted roads can be larger than any paranormal experiences. As a professional driver, have you ever taken the time to explore and investigate any haunted roads?
Given the Halloween season is upon us, we thought we would highlight some of the reported haunted roads across the United States. Keep reading this blog to learn more about some of the scariest roads to travel.
Staley Road
Staley Road is a seemingly secluded roadway located in New Carlisle, Ohio. It winds its way through woods of big trees on either side, and has interwoven branches overhead leading up to an old flour mill built in the early 1800s. Legend says the original owner, Elias Staley went on a rampage and still haunts the area today. Motorists have reported car trouble and seeing Staley’s ghost standing or lying in the road.
The Devil’s Promenade
The Devil’s Promenade located near Hornet, Missouri is a quaint strip of road nestled on the border of Missouri and Kansas. Residents report seeing an unexplainable green orb or “Spooklight,” as it is now called. The reported lights shine thru the long tall trees in the area. Reports of seeing the lights go all the way back to the early 19th century and legend says sightings stem from the spirit of two Native-American lovers who are looking for each other.
Shades of Death Road
Shades of Death Road is two-lane rural road located in Warrant County, New Jersey. This road has been surrounded by reports of paranormal activity that dates back to the early 1900s. Some of the reported activity along this road and “Ghost Lake” that sits just beside the road, include extreme fog, unexplained bright skies and ghosts.
If you have time to drive any of these roads, let us know if you happen to come across any unusual activity. You may not be able to drive all of these in your truck, but we like to inform our drivers and readers of this blog about unique and interesting roads and highways.
